Blast From the Past

I had the chance to second shoot a wedding last weekend with Amy Jett of The Fey Image. The bride and groom (along with most of the guests) were current or former roller derby girls and referees with The Big Easy Rollergirls, so it was quite the unique affair. Let’s just say I’ve never seen such a violent bouquet toss.

But that’s not why we’re here today, as I haven’t sifted through all of those photos yet. Before the wedding, in an effort to prepare, I dug up some photos from the LAST time I second-shot with Amy. I hadn’t touched these in a while, so it was great to revisit them. The wedding was in Thibodeaux, Louisiana, down in the heart of Cajun country. The bride and groom’s family were very friendly and welcoming, and really made me feel like I was a part of their family for the day.

And. These. People. Could. PARTY. It was one of the most crunktastic receptions I had ever seen. I probably missed quite  a few shots because I was laughing so hard. Crazy (in a good way) uncles, guitar shredding cousins, and dancing, dancing, dancing. I need to hang out in Thibodeaux more, apparently.

And now, on to ze photos.

Getting ready.

Radiant.

Cathedral: (n.) photographer’s nightmare, due to dark conditions, high ceilings, and reflective marble surfaces.

At least this one had white everywhere, which helped a little bit.

OK, OK, it really was a beautiful cathedral.

I’ve seen THAT look before. This kid is seconds away from a spanking.

I caught this little diva posing like this nearly every time I turned the camera towards her. Kids are weird.

Here comes one wiiiild and crazy guy!

Who invented his own VERY interesting dance moves all night long, much to the delight of the crowd.

I told you these people knew how to have fun.
