I assure you, I did NOT think the first sorry-I-haven’t-posted-in-so-long-I’ve-been-so-busy post would come this quickly. But here it is. The initial mea culpa de bloga. Aaaaaaaaaaaaand, I really have no good excuse, so let’s just move on like it never happened, shall we? Good.
Graphite Galleries (follow them on Twitter) on Royal Street held an opening for Rob McInvale this past Saturday, and Rob asked me to document the festivities. The gallery next door also stayed open late, and people seemed to come pouring in from all over town. It was a killer turnout. Booze flowed, art lovers mingled, and the DJ played until the wee hours (OK, not that wee). Let’s scope it out.
Booze. Very important.

Although, beer from Mississippi causes some trepidation:

The art was hung by some intrepid souls who, fueled by alcohol, worked furiously at the gallery until 3 AM the night before the opening. Remarkably, all of the paintings were perfectly level.

All in all, a very successful show. After everything died down a bit, I asked an exhausted Taylor Lyon to sit for me for a quick portrait:

I’m going to go back to the gallery soon to get some proper portraits of everyone involved with the place, maybe on a night when people aren’t exhausted from a full weekend of work.
All in all, great night. I met some very interesting people and made a few new contacts that will hopefully pan out into more assignments. We all had a lot of fun, and quickly adjourned to Flanagan’s after we closed the doors. Flanagan’s was the beginning of an epic Saturday night for me, but that’s another story for another time. Thank God there are no photos past that point in the night. That I know of…
